This weekend Life & Engines will be at Kickback Motorcycle Show at the Stoneleigh Park Exhibition Centre – not only will our award winning Triumph Triple Cafe Racer (Project No.4) and our “Old 61″ Harley Davidson Bobber (Project No.1) be on display, but we will also have a stand at the event where we will be selling some of the L&E clothing and accessories. We have spent the good part of two weeks getting everything together and hand building / hand painting the stand ourselves and couldn’t be prouder of what we have accomplished. Things are happening. Last week we finalised a couple more designs for the 2016 range (we […]

The Bike Shed MCC – London
The Bike Shed MCC – London

Have you ever been in the company of so many beautiful machines and people, that you stand and wonder whether it is a dream? No? Well you clearly haven’t been to one of the Bike Shed MC events… I’m not even going to pretend that I’m not a huge, bobble-hat-wearing, fan of the majority of Bike Builders at the event – It seemed so surreal that the day before, these bikes and personalities only existed through a photo on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, only then to be stood in right in front of them – able to take in every detail. It was great to meet a whole lot of […]

FURY ROAD – Motorbikes of Mad Max
FURY ROAD – Motorbikes of Mad Max
Posted in Motorcycles, Movies, Projects on May 27th, 2015

So… WOW. I shan’t bother with some convoluted movie critique because this movie categorically does not require it. Mad Max: Fury Road is a full out, balls to the wall, operatic action, car chase, edge of seat, heart pounding, finger biting,  apocalyptic theatrical masterpiece. George Miller returns to the directors chair and leaves no-one disappointed. If you haven’t yet seen it… Heres a link: GO AND BUY YOUR TICKET. Now, aside from all of that – on to the main feature. After leaving my showing of Mad Max: Fury Road, I immediately started looking for 250cc Enduro bikes, and here is why: This is the next 2 wheel, Life & Engines project. […]

L&E BSA Bantam 175cc Trials
L&E BSA Bantam 175cc Trials

A personal project of ours (read: labour of love.) This BSA Bantam hadn’t started since the late 70’s, and now After some blood, sweat and gears – we have finally got her running. We won’t be doing much in the way of polishing it, in true L&E style we will be keeping the patina (we love the seat!) and focusing on making it tick over how it should and also fixing the brakes, after Test Flight 1.0 saw the brake rod snap – sending me into a wall.. as they say, it’s all sh*ts and giggles until someone giggles and sh*ts! We will keep the Instagram posted with the progress […]

The Race of the Century
The Race of the Century

Yep, this is another one for the L&E bucket list… except this one might just be a little out of reach due to a) we haven’t got a pre 1916 motorcycle and b) timing as it clashes with the Goodwood Revival. But, this has to be one of the motorcycle events of the year that captures the spirit of those early pioneering motorcyclists that headed out on the open road (or farm track) way back in the early years of the last century. “In 2010 a small band of riders proved that antique motorcycles could indeed be put to the ultimate test… A test that would pit rider and machine […]

The Race of Gentlemen
The Race of Gentlemen

OK… let’s talk ‘bucket list entries’. There are a few on the list and this is near the top – The Race of Gentlemen. Cool bikes, cool hot rods and cool people having a great time living life with their passion – a passion fuelled by a Life & Engines. Run by the Oiler Car Club and set on the deserted beach at Wildwood, New Jersey, on the East coast of the USA it is a step back in time but this beach racing thing is far from a new idea. Go back to the early and mid stage of the last century racing on a beach was the thing […]
